I should probably write something about who keeps writing this stuff since according to the statistics tracker (which is addictive I might add) there are people actually reading what I wrote. I am not if I intended that to happen or not.
So who I am. Well. My name is Michael Hutchins, that would be hard to guess, and yes there was that guy from INXS who killed himself named Michael Hutchence. Assuming there is only one Michael Hutchins Google tells me that I am Jazz Singer, a dead Rock Star, an author and a doctor. Of course I am pretty confident that I am none of those things, well the last time I checked anyway. Without Google you really only have my word on who I am. Of course it could all be a fabricated lie created to entice people to read my words of wisdom on this blog. But to be honest if I was to make up this person of Michael Hutchins wouldn’t I just pretend to be the post-humous postings of a dead rock star? I could probably get more hits that way.
Anyway. The basics: I am a Californian, I go to school at the University of California Santa Barbara where I am getting my Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. I spent my junior year abroad at Edinburgh University where I studied Astrophysics at the Edinburgh Observatory. I love photography, hence the pictures that keep appearing on this site. I also enjoy traveling be it on a cruise to Alaska or a dingy hostel in Amsterdam. I actually do like long walks on the beach, unless there are box jellyfish about; those things scare me. I am unsure on the proper usage of the semi-colon. I did archery while studying at Edinburgh and loved it. I enjoy spending a summer day lounging about reading or playing video games. What else? Ice cream is always nice and pumpkin pie when it is in season.
After I graduate from Santa Barbara I am going to go graduate school to earn my PhD. So far I have only heard back from one university, an acceptance at Earth and Space Science department at the University of Washington. So far I a hundred percent for graduate school. What will I do if I get a PhD? Hopefully something that I love to do. It would be big plus if it was also interesting. Nothing kills conversations like saying you are a physics major.
Now for contact information, always fun in a world filled with spam. And not that kind vikings love oh so very much. I guess I will just go with an e-mail. This is tricky, it is an image of my address with the (at) being an @ and the (plus) being a + and the (dot) being a “.”:

I thought I should update this, or at least do a minor update (since I cannot add more then one entry to separate pages).
I got into all of the graduate schools I applied for and starting this fall I am going to the University of Washington in the Earth and Space Science department.
“I am unsure on the proper usage of the semi-colon.” Good to know I am not alone.
I found one of your picts on flckr and want to use it for a bit on my twitter page. You OK with that? Good stuff.
I love seeing the university through your lens.
